Descripción:Cinnamoyl chloride is a reactive compound that can be used as a precursor in the synthesis of cinnamic acid. It reacts with water to form hydrogen chloride and cinnamic acid. Cinnamoyl chloride has shown anti-inflammatory activity in experimental models, but its mechanism of action is not well understood. The compound may act by binding to receptors or by inhibiting enzymes such as cytochrome P450. Cinnamoyl chloride has been shown to inhibit the growth of carcinoma cells in cell culture and may have potential as an anticancer agent. This compound also has metabolic properties, including the ability to inhibit methyl ethylmalonic aciduria, which is a symptom of metabolic disorders such as propionic acidemia and methylmalonic aciduria. Cinnamoyl chloride may also have photochemical properties due to its hydroxyl group, which could react with light exposure to produce singlet oxygen, a reactive molecule that can damage cells.
