Descripción:Calcium polystyrene sulfonate, or C-PSS, is a non-toxic water treatment agent that has been shown to be effective against infectious diseases. It works by binding to potassium ions, removing them from solution and preventing hyperkalemia in patients with chronic kidney disease. C-PSS has also been shown to bind human serum albumin (HSA) and dextran sulfate (DS), which are molecules that are found in biological samples and wastewater. This binding prevents their adsorption onto the surface of other particles, leading to minimal toxicity. C-PSS can be used as a fluorescence probe for pharmacological agents.
