Calhex 231 is a synthetic peptide that belongs to the group of growth factors. It is a signal-transducing molecule that regulates cellular physiology by binding to its receptor, which activates intracellular calcium levels and cell proliferation. Calhex 231 has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cardiac cells in an experimental model and to decrease tissue injury in a rat model of mesenteric ischemia. This drug also has anti-inflammatory effects, which may be due to its ability to induce autophagy.
