• Descripción: (1S,3R)-Camphoric acid is a synthetic compound. It has been shown to be an inhibitor of the influenza virus. The chemical structure contains two aldehyde groups, which are reactive and can form alkylation products with other molecules. Reaction of camphor with salicylaldehyde yields ethyl (2-methylprop-2-enyl) camphor and reaction with methyl alcohol yields 2-methylpropan-2-ol. The crystal structure of this compound has been determined by x-ray diffraction and found to contain a coordination geometry that is homochiral, meaning that it is not chiral but the same on both sides of the molecule. This means that it is not necessary to specify the enantiomer in the name, because they are identical. Camphor also forms a copper complex with ligands such as ammonia or amines.
