N-(3-Chloro-2-methylphenyl)-2-hydroxynicotinamide is a crystalline solid with a sweet taste. It is soluble in water and ethanol and has a molar mass of 204.7 g/mol. N-(3-Chloro-2-methylphenyl)-2-hydroxynicotinamide is an organic compound that is used as an insecticide and acaricide. It inhibits the growth of insects by inhibiting cysteine synthase, which prevents the production of protein, leading to death by starvation. N-(3-Chloro-2-methylphenyl)-2-hydroxynicotinamide has been shown to inhibit the enzymology of macromolecules such as proteins, nucleic acids, and polysaccharides. This inhibition may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with amide groups within these molecules.
