Descripción:2-Chloro-5-nitro-benzenesulfonic acid is a monosubstituted aromatic compound that has been shown to be toxic to bacteria. It is classified as an environmental pollutant and is used in the production of aminoacetic acid. It is also a byproduct of radiation and can be found in the environment due to its use in the textile industry, as well as its production from coal tar. 2-Chloro-5-nitrobenzenesulfonic acid has been shown to have antituberculosis activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv and Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Ra, with an IC50 of 0.1 mM. This compound also has protonation properties which may be due to its chloride functional group. 2-Chloro-5-nitrobenzenesulfonic acid also contains nitro functional groups that are responsible for its carcinogenic properties.
