This compound has been shown to have potent inhibitory activity against cancer cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo. 4-Chloro-6,7-dimethoxyquinazoline shows selective inhibition against tyrosine kinases, including epidermal growth factor receptor, fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 and 3, platelet derived growth factor receptor alpha and beta, and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2. The binding affinity of this compound is also high for the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). This suggests that 4-Chloro-6,7-dimethoxyquinazoline may be an effective inhibitor of EGFR signaling pathways in epithelial cancers and other cancers that rely on these pathways for survival.
