1-[4-(3-Chloropropoxy)-3-methoxyphenyl]ethanone is a chemical intermediate that is used in the preparation of iloperidone, a drug that is used to treat schizophrenia and psychosis. The impurities in this compound are related to acetonitrile, which may be removed by distillation under vacuum. Potassium carbonate can be used for the reaction to form the desired product, and high yields can be achieved through optimization of the reaction conditions.
