Descripción:Chlorothiazide is a diuretic that is a thiazide. It is used in combination preparations to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and congestive heart failure. Chlorothiazide is also used to reduce the amount of fluid in the body (edema) and as an adjuvant therapy for kidney disease. This drug has been shown to be safe at therapeutic doses, although it may have some toxic effects on liver function. The toxicity studies on chlorothiazide have demonstrated no carcinogenic effects in either animals or humans, but there are reports of some skin cancer cases among people who have taken this drug for many years.
