• Descripción: Corticosterone 21-acetate is a fatty acid that has been used as a pharmaceutical preparation for the treatment of high blood pressure. It also has antihypertensive activity and can be used to treat congestive heart failure. Corticosterone 21-acetate binds to the distal tubule cells in the kidney, causing an increase in the production of hydroxyproline, which leads to increased synthesis of collagen. This drug has been shown to inhibit the growth of some types of cancerous cells and may have synergistic interactions with other drugs that are used to treat cancer. Corticosterone 21-acetate is bound to corticosteroid binding globulin in the blood plasma, preventing it from crossing into tissues.
