a-Chlorophenylacetic acid is an organic compound with a hydroxyl group and a fatty acid. It is used in pharmaceutical preparations as a phosphatase inhibitor. The reaction solution of this compound was polymerized to form poly(a-chlorophenylacetic acid). This polymer has been shown to have antibacterial efficacy against various bacteria, including Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Furthermore, it has been shown that the addition of acetonitrile to the reaction solution increases the polymer's antibacterial efficacy.
