Calcium citrate is a calcium salt of citric acid. It is used in blood sampling to prevent coagulation and clotting. Calcium citrate has been shown to have potent antitumor activity, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis and inhibit the proliferation of cells. Calcium citrate also has potent anti-inflammatory properties that may be due to its ability to stimulate macrophages and inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
