Citronellyl isobutyrate is a fatty acid that is found in the ester compounds group of compounds. It has been shown to have cytotoxic activity in vitro and anticancer activity in vivo. Citronellyl isobutyrate has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth by inducing apoptosis, inhibiting protein synthesis, and interfering with the ability of cells to divide. Citronellyl isobutyrate also inhibits cancer cell proliferation by binding to DNA and inhibiting RNA synthesis, which leads to decreased production of proteins required for cell division.
