Tert-butyl N-(3-methylbutan-2-yl)carbamate is a carbamic acid that has been shown to have potent anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Tert-butyl N-(3-methylbutan-2-yl)carbamate binds to toll-like receptors, which are proteins on the surface of cells that detect molecules from outside the body, such as bacteria. This binding inhibits the activity of these receptors, preventing inflammatory responses and reducing pain. Tert-butyl N-(3-methylbutan-2-yl)carbamate also has antibacterial efficacy against many Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus mirabilis, Enterobacter cloacae, Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi and Shigella
