7-Chloro-3,4-dihydro-1(2H)-naphthalenone is a benzo byproduct that has been racemized. It is used as a reaction product in the hydrogenation reduction of lactams and optical resolution of oximes. 7-Chloro-3,4-dihydro-1(2H)-naphthalenone has also been shown to be an intermediate in the synthesis of lipase inhibitors. This product has been studied using high performance liquid chromatography and liquid chromatography to determine its kinetic and hydrolysis properties.
