5-Chloro-2-iodoaniline is an ethyl ester of 5-chloro-2-iodobenzoic acid. It is a synthetic intermediate used in the synthesis of other compounds. 5-Chloro-2-iodoaniline has been shown to act as an intramolecular, noncompetitive antagonist at glycine receptors and as an inhibitor of wittig reaction. The kinetic properties of 5-chloro-2-iodoaniline were studied in detail by measuring the rate of hydrolysis with acid ethyl esters and butanoic acids.
