It can be used as a solvent for carboxylic acids and their derivatives, such as hydrogenated ethylene, polyesters, and carboxylic acid modifiers. 3CI is also used for the synthesis of carboxylic acid chlorides, which are used to modify metal ions. This compound has a high boiling point and low toxicity.
