Dasatinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor with industrial, therapeutic, and agricultural applications. It has been shown to be cytoprotective in vivo, by modulating the expression of genes that are involved in cellular responses to stress. Dasatinib has also been shown to have a specific effect on cancer cells by down-regulating the expression of receptor proteins such as epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF1R). Dasatinib is currently being investigated for its potential use as a cancer therapeutic.
