2-Cyanothioacetamide is an enzyme inhibitor that inhibits the activity of acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase. 2-Cyanothioacetamide has been shown to be effective against inflammatory diseases and infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis. The mechanism of action of 2-cyanoacetamide is not fully understood, but it has been shown to have a metabolic effect, which may be due to its inhibition of the synthesis of phospholipids. 2-Cyanothioacetamide also has antimicrobial properties, which are likely due to its ability to react with chloride or sodium salts and release hydrogen chloride gas.
