Descripción:N-Cbz-3-pyrrolidinone is a chiral compound that was synthesized from an enantiomerically pure form of 2,6-dichloro-4-nitrophenyl acetic acid. This compound has been shown to be a useful cosolvent for preparative chiral high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and can be used as a chiral resolving agent in the separation of enantiomers. The x-ray diffraction study showed that the molecule has a tetragonal crystal structure, with the Cbz group being located on one side of the molecule. The carbonyl group and the hydroxyl groups are on opposite sides of the molecule.
