3-Carboxy-4-fluorophenylboronic acid (3CFPBA) is a potent inhibitor of homologous recombination, which is essential for tumorigenesis. 3CFPBA inhibits tumor growth in mice and induces apoptosis in human breast carcinoma cells by inhibiting glucose uptake and multidrug resistance protein expression. 3CFPBA is not active against normal proliferating mammary epithelial cells. The compound has been shown to be safe in animals, with no adverse effects on the liver or kidney when administered at doses up to 10 mg/kg. 3CFPBA can be encapsulated and regulated to release the drug over time in order to maintain an appropriate concentration level.
