4-Chlorobenzhydryl chloride is a chemical compound that can be found in environmental pollution and in the pharmacopoeias of many countries. It is used to prepare samples for clinical studies, such as meclozine or cetirizine. 4-Chlorobenzhydryl chloride can also be found in wastewater from industries that use chlorinated hydrocarbons. In addition, it can be found in emissions from coal-fired power plants and chemical plants. 4-Chlorobenzhydryl chloride has been shown to cause cancer when administered to laboratory animals at high doses.
