Descripción

DL-Cystine is a non-essential amino acid that is used as a medication to treat metabolic disorders. It is also used in polymerase chain reactions and for the treatment of infectious diseases, such as Aerobacter aerogenes, Helicobacter pylori, and Chlamydia pneumonia. DL-Cystine has been shown to bind to the enzyme glutamate decarboxylase, which converts glutamate into gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). It has also been shown to have a role in transcriptional regulation and in mitochondrial membrane depolarization.
