- 2-Chloro-7-Methylquinoline
2-Chloro-7-methylquinoline is an antimycotic that is primarily used for the treatment of aspergillus flavus. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of other fungi, such as Penicillium and Candida. 2-Chloro-7-methylquinoline is a ligand and interacts with biomolecules such as proteins or nucleic acids. The mode of action is not yet fully understood but it may be due to its ability to act as a nucleophile in the presence of benzyl groups, or by forming covalent bonds through allylamine groups. 2-Chloro-7-methylquinoline also has affinity for penicillium, which may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with penicillin.
