4-Chloro-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine (4C) is a synthetic compound that has been used in molecular modeling experiments to study the interactions between enamine and esters. The hydrophobic nature of 4C allows it to interact with the promastigote surface. 4C has also shown to be an addictive agent in leishmania parasites, which can be inhibited by amodiaquine. The synthesis of 4C is done by reacting 3,4-dichloropyridine with 1,2,3-trioxane. This reaction yields intermediates that are hydrolyzed to form the desired product.
