• Descripción: a-Chymotrypsin is a proteolytic enzyme that belongs to the serine family of proteases. It has inhibitory properties against cancer cells and is also used as an antimicrobial agent. The enzyme has been shown to have covalent linkages with calcium, which may be responsible for its stability in biological fluids. a-Chymotrypsin hydrolyzes peptide bonds of proteins at the carboxyl terminus of amino acids, generating smaller polypeptides or free amino acids. This enzyme is stable in complex with human serum albumin and other pharmacological agents such as phenylhydrazine and dibromoethane.
