Descripción:5-Cyanoindole-3-carboxaldehyde is an aldehyde that is used in synthesis of β-unsaturated aldehydes. It is prepared by the reaction of 3-cyanoindole with formaldehyde. 5-Cyanoindole-3-carboxaldehyde has antibacterial activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria. It also has a high yield and can be purified by filtration or by condensation with chlorobenzene. 5-Cyanoindole-3-carboxaldehyde can be activated by irradiation, which makes it useful for the production of pharmaceuticals.
