Descripción:6-Chlorotryptamine is an indole alkaloid that is found in plants such as "Inula helenium". It has vasoconstrictive properties, which is due to its ability to inhibit the enzyme tryptophan decarboxylase. This inhibition leads to a decrease in serotonin levels, which causes blood vessels to narrow and slows blood flow. 6-Chlorotryptamine also inhibits protein synthesis by preventing the cross-coupling of amino acids. The compound can be found in a number of natural sources, including aerocolonigenes and plant species such as "Inula helenium" and "Lysimachia nummularia".
