It binds to the ATP binding site and blocks the enzymatic activity of the enzyme, preventing cell proliferation. 7-Chlorothieno[3,2-B]pyridine has been shown to inhibit growth in tumour cell lines and has been shown to be effective against tyrosine kinase receptor positive cancer cells. This drug also shows a cytotoxic activity against tumour cells in vivo, which may be due to its ability to inhibit factor receptor and receptor tyrosine.
