6-Chloro-3-formylchromone is a thiourea that crystallizes in an anhydrous form. It can be prepared by reacting benzene with hydrazine and then chlorinating the product. 6-Chloro-3-formylchromone has been shown to react with cyanoacetamide to form hippuric acid, a precursor to the synthesis of drugs such as acetaminophen. 6-Chloro-3-formylchromone also reacts with hydroxylamine to produce hippuric acid, which is used in the synthesis of various drugs.
