Cesium sulfate is a chemical compound that is a combination of the elements cesium and sulfur. It is used in wastewater treatment and has high resistance to organic solvents, making it an experimental model for studying fatty acid degradation. Cesium sulfate can be synthesized by reacting ethylene diamine with sodium citrate, which will precipitate as cesium sulfate. This compound has been used to study metal hydroxides and coordination geometry. Cesium sulfate is also used in biological samples such as plasma and human serum. It undergoes thermal expansion in the presence of light and emits light when heated to decomposition.
