1-(3-Chlorophenyl)-3-(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula CHClOS. It is a white solid that crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c and has been shown to have multifunctionalized properties. The molecule consists of a phenyl ring with a thiophene moiety attached to it at the 3 position. The most notable optical property of this molecule is its strong absorption in the ultraviolet region, which has been attributed to its electron density on the phenyl ring. This compound crystallizes readily from ethanol, acetone, or chloroform solutions and can be used as a starting material for synthesizing other compounds.
