This compound was also found to inhibit the growth of L1210 murine leukemia cells, which is due to its ability to bind to potassium ions. 5CP has been shown to have significant binding constants with DNA and protein molecules. It also has a very high level of ancillary activity and can be used as a catalyst in transfer reactions.
