Cannabidiolic acid is a natural product that is found in plants and is structurally similar to the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, p-hydroxybenzoic acid. It has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against both gram positive and gram negative bacteria as well as yeast. Cannabidiolic acid also has been used in the treatment of metabolic disorders such as diabetes mellitus, obesity, and hyperlipidemia. Cannabidiolic acid has been shown to be metabolically stable and does not react with other drugs or chemicals in the body. The effects of this compound on locomotor activity remain unclear.
