Descripción:Cholesterol benzoate is a chiral compound that has a phase transition temperature of about 46°C. It is soluble in organic solvents and has high resistance to heat, light, and oxidation. Cholesterol benzoate contains a hydroxyl group on the third carbon atom from the end of the molecule, which makes it an alcohol. The two hydroxyl groups allow cholesterol benzoate to be used as a fluorescence probe. Cholesterol benzoate also has biological properties that may be due to its similarity with cholesteryl.
