2-Chloro-4-nitrobenzanilide is a reactive intermediate in organic synthesis. It has been used as a reagent for the synthesis of 2,3-dihydrobenzofuran and the preparation of 2,5-dichloroaniline. It is also a useful scaffold for the formation of complex compounds with various functional groups. This compound has been used as an intermediate to prepare other chemicals such as 4-chloroquinoline, 3-chloropyridine, and 3,4,5-trichloropyridine. It is also a versatile building block for the preparation of speciality chemicals such as 1H-[1,2]oxazolo[4,3-a]quinoxalin-1-one and 4-(2'-chlorophenyl)benzenamine.
