This compound has a second-order rate constant for its reaction with epoxides and also undergoes thermal isomerization, which means that it changes from trans form to cis form when heated. This compound also reacts with boric acid to create boron complexes and reacts with water molecules to produce hydrogen gas, although it does not react with air or oxygen.
