2-Chloro-5-nitrobenzoic acid is a hydroxyl compound that has an amine group. It is soluble in water, alcohols and ethers. The optimal reaction occurs at pH 8.0 and the reaction yield is greater than 95% when the reaction is run at 100°C for 10 minutes with 1 equivalent of sodium bicarbonate as a base. 2-Chloro-5-nitrobenzoic acid can be used to make monoclonal antibodies because it reacts with 4-tert-butylbenzoic acid to form an amination product. The solubility data for 2-chloro-5-nitrobenzoic acid was obtained from experimental solubility data in humans with HIV/AIDS.
