Descripción:4'-Chlorochalcone is a synthetic chalcone that has been shown to be effective as an antimicrobial agent. It is a solid form that has a yellow color. 4'-Chlorochalcone is relatively stable to solvents and has shown antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis. This compound also inhibits the growth of Gram-negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The antimicrobial activity of this compound is due to its radical mechanism, which involves epoxidation of the cyclohexenone ring followed by epoxide opening.
