The matrix effect of (R)-(+)-corypalmine on protopine has been shown to be due to its ability to inhibit the oxidation of hydroxyl groups, which are important for drug binding and antimicrobial activity. This compound also has antimicrobial properties against hl-60 cells and other bacteria.
