Descripción

Carboxyatractyloside is a natural compound that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of hepatic steatosis. It inhibits mitochondrial membrane potential and mitochondrial functions by binding to calcium, which leads to decreased energy metabolism. Carboxyatractyloside has also been shown to induce enzymes that are involved in the synthesis of fatty acids (e.g., acetyl-CoA carboxylase) and inhibit other enzymes that are involved in lipid catabolism (e.g., carnitine palmitoyltransferase). This inhibition leads to increased levels of fatty acids and causes hepatic steatosis.
