Cyclopentylboronic acid is a boronic acid that is used as an organocatalyst in the synthesis of aromatic compounds. It has been shown to be reactive with chlorine, and can also form cross-couples with other boronic acids, halides, and trifluoride. Cyclopentylboronic acid can be used to synthesize functionalized aromatic hydrocarbons from tosylates or mesylates in a reaction catalyzed by palladium or nickel. The use of cyclopentylboronic acid as an organocatalyst has been shown to improve the efficiency of the coupling process.
