4-Chloro-6-fluorocinnoline is a phenyl compound that has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells in vitro. 4-Chloro-6-fluorocinnoline inhibits the activity of kinases, which are enzymes that transmit signals from outside the cell to inside the cell by phosphorylating proteins. It also inhibits the activity of ubiquitin, an enzyme that attaches to proteins and facilitates their degradation. 4-Chloro-6-fluorocinnoline has been shown to inhibit epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), a protein that plays an important role in signaling for cancer cell division, and may be useful for treating lung cancers with mutant EGFRs.
