Chlorodifluorophosphine oxide is a colorless, mobile liquid that is used as an organic solvent. It has been shown to be a more efficient rotator than chloroform and dichloromethane. Chlorodifluorophosphine oxide has been used as a gaseous chlorine source for the production of chlorofluorocarbons and hydrochlorofluorocarbons in the agrochemical industry. It also has been used in treatments for sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and hydrofluoric acid. Chlorodifluorophosphine oxide can also be used as a solute in water to increase its boiling point or reduce its freezing point.
