It has been shown to be an antibacterial agent, inhibiting the growth of bacteria by inhibiting bacterial DNA synthesis. This drug also exhibits inhibition activity against infarction, which is the death of cells due to lack of blood flow. The mechanism behind this effect is not yet known, but it is possible that 2-chloro-5-fluorobenzoyl chloride inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-1β.
