Descripción

The method is an efficient, recycled and environmentally friendly method for the synthesis of 3-chloro-1,1,1,3-tetrafluoropropane (CClF). The reaction products are hydrochloric acid (HCl), chlorine atom (Cl), and hydrogen fluoride (HF) gas. The catalyst is a mixture of aluminium powder and hydrogen chloride gas. The reaction vessel is a steel cylinder with a capacity of about 300 ml. The reactants are put in the cylinder and heated to about 120°C for about 10 minutes. The exothermic reaction can be prevented by adding water to the reaction vessel at the beginning of the process.
