Dexamethasone sodium phosphate is a drug that belongs to the class of corticosteroids. It is used as an injection solution in the treatment of inflammation and autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis. Dexamethasone sodium phosphate has been shown to be effective in reducing disease activity and symptoms associated with bowel disease. The mechanism of action for dexamethasone sodium phosphate is not known, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit IL-2 receptors on lymphocytes and suppress the immune system. Dexamethasone sodium phosphate has also been shown to reduce side-effects associated with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
