2-Piperazin-1-yl-quinoxaline is an atypical antipsychotic drug that is a 5HT2A receptor antagonist. It has been shown to have atypical antipsychotic activity in assays using homogenates of rat striatum and to inhibit the twitches induced by L-DOPA in rats. 2-Piperazin-1-yl-quinoxaline has also been shown to have affinity for the 5HT2A receptor, with pharmacological properties similar to risperidone. This drug was found to be an active compound in a variety of antipsychotic agents, including risperidone, and has been approved for use as an antiemetic in Japan.
