2-Ethoxy-5-(3-methyl-ureido)-benzenesulfonyl chloride is an inhibitor of the kalotermitidae, a group of wood-destroying insects. It has been shown to be an effective antibacterial agent against Gram-positive bacteria such as kalotermes (a termite) and Lapachol (a fungus). 2EtOBSCl inhibits the growth of nematodes and mycoses, which are fungal infections caused by fungi. It is also used as an organic solvent in chemical synthesis. 2EtOBSCl binds to DNA and prevents dna repair enzymes from binding to the damaged site of the DNA strand, causing senescence. This drug also inhibits tyrosinase, which is an oxidizing enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of tyrosinase into dopaquinone.
