Descripción:
2,4-Dichloro-3-ethyl-6-nitrophenol is a chlorinating agent that is used to produce dichloroacetic acid and other compounds. It is an inexpensive chemical that can be synthesized from readily available starting materials. 2,4-Dichloro-3-ethyl-6-nitrophenol has been shown to have environmental effects such as the formation of nitrocompounds and the depletion of stratospheric ozone. This chemical also reacts with sulfonating agents to form chlorinated hydrocarbons, which are used in sample preparation for gas chromatography. The isomers of this compound are separated using acid complexation and alkalization with chloride or hydrochloric acid.
